Who We Are

 

Scott Young, CPA, CM&AA

President and Principal Consultant

Scott Young is the President and Principal Consultant at Highpoint CFO. He is a CPA and Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) with over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting at industry-leading companies.

He began his accounting career as an auditor with the Big Four firm, EY. After auditing, he worked with several mid-sized and large companies as they were re-organizing to meet the challenges of the next level of growth, including:

  • The Moorings (now part of TUI Group) as they transitioned from family owned business to managing the demands of private equity owners.

  • Marriott Vacation Club, after they purchased a privately-owned timeshare company and grew it to over $750 million in revenues.

  • Ryland Homes (now CalAtlantic), as they met the demands of the rapidly growing homebuilding market, and their subsequent adjustments during the decline.

  • Jagged Peak, as they reorganized and prepared for their ultimate sale to an investor.


Education

Scott Young received his Master’s degree in Accounting from Florida State University in 1992. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Florida, and in 2016, he earned the Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) credential offered by the AM&AA in collaboration with Pepperdine University.

The AM&AA’s primary goals are to help members improve their level of knowledge, give them access to the tools to help them better market and deliver their services, and provide them with a network of knowledgeable professionals with whom they can share information and resources.

An AM&AA chapter is a local resource for networking, education, marketing, developing professional opportunities, and thought leadership. Members are able to make face to face connections with each other, potential members and other alliance opportunities.

Treasurer, Board of Trustees

The Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision provides on-site comprehensive rehabilitation programs for persons who are blind or visually impaired in two locations in Florida. On-site services are provided in Tampa and in Winter Haven for persons residing in Hillsborough, Polk, and Hardee counties.

Our training programs are designed to help individuals who have recently lost part or all of their vision to gain the skills needed to perform daily living tasks independently and maintain their employment. Rehabilitation Engineering services are provided Statewide by Lighthouse Assistive Technology Specialists to help blind or visually impaired individuals maintain their existing employment through the use of assistive technology and devices.

Mentor, FSU Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE)

The Florida State University Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) provides preparation, orientation, and academic support programming for students who are among the first in their families to attend college and may face unique challenges in college because of educational or economic circumstances.
